Italian Penne Arrabiato

Penne Arrabiato

Arrabiato - literally means "Angry". Arrabiato is a dish where you can spice to suit and delicious at all strengths. 


Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Penne pasta with ridges
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil
  • 3 cloves chopped Garlic
  • Kosher salt
  • 6 leaves fresh chopped basil (plus more for garnish)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Butter
  • Vodka
  • Mushroom

Preparation;

Cook the 1 pound Penne pasta with ridges on a large pot with salted boiling water (9 minutes) or until pasta is Al Dente, cooked but still firm. 

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and heat until oil starts to shimmer. Add the garlic until garlic is fragrant (1-2 minutes) . Then add the tinned tomatoes and the chili flakes together with the mushroom, salt, and pepper to taste. 

Bring to a boil cook for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the chopped fresh basil.

Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. 

*Garnish with grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.*
